Clarence Roosevelt Poynter, 78, Cave City, passed away Friday, August 6, 2010, at T. J. Samson Community Hospital, Glasgow, KY. The Barren County native was the son of the late William Schuyler and Harriet Logsdon Poynter, a farmer and of the Baptist Faith. Survivors include his wife, Ruby Judd Poynter; a daughter, Kathy Self and her husband, Dave; a son, Daryl Poynter and his wife Connie, all of Cave City; four grandchildren, Joey Poynter and his wife Ashley, Derek Self, all of Cave City, Krista Poynter, Cole Poynter, both of Horse Cave; a great-grandson, Weston Adams, Cave City; three sisters, Helen Byrd, Louisville, Ruby and her husband Randall Chapman, Cave City, Pat and her husband Stanley Rutherford, Tyler, TX; five brothers; Bill Poynter, Paul Richard Poynter and his wife JoAnn, Jerry Poynter, all of Cave City, J. V. Poynter, Horse Cave, Warren Poynter, Florida and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Curtis Clayton Poynter. Funeral services with Rev. Junior Shirley officiating will be at 1PM Monday, August 9th at the Bob Hunt Funeral Chapel, Cave City, with burial in the Cave City Cemetery. Visitation at the funeral home will be from 5 to 8 PM Saturday, 9 AM to 8 PM Sunday and after 9 AM Monday until time of services.
