Meredith/Thompson Cemetary
Edmonson Co., Kentucky

Location: From Cub Run, Hart County, KY, go west on KY Hwy 728 (Gap Hill Road) for about five miles.   The Cemetery is located on left side/bank of road and is 1/2 mile past the Hart/Edmonson County line.  This graveyard was in Hart County up until Edmonson County was formed.  This burial ground lies on lands first settled by "Old" Samuel Sanders when it was a part of Hardin County, KY.  The narrow valleys near streams were the first to be settled in this sand hills country.  John Swadden Sanders, brother to Samuel, also owned a part of this land tract at one time, and he is reported by Sanders family historians to be buried there in a grave covered with large stones in the center of the cemetery.  The traditional story is that the stones were placed there to protect the human remains from being exhumed by wolves.
