THOMAS FERREN BURIAL SITE

TOP OF MAXEY’S KNOB NEAR CANMER,
HART COUNTY, KENTUCKY

LOCATION: On Hwy 31E at Canmer, take Hwy 677 to intersection of Hwy 1573.
Turn right and proceed to the end. Turn left onto Hwy 1572 for 1-1/2 miles to Maxey’s Knob Road.
Follow the chipped road approximately half a mile to the end, then walk to the top.

COMMENTS: This gravesite was discovered by hunters several years ago bringing back memories of the story that
Thomas Ferren died of black smallpox and was carried by two Irishmen to the top of Maxey’s Knob and buried.
