TENNISON FAMILY CEMETERY

NEAR JONESVILLE AND HAMMONSVILLE

HART COUNTY , KENTUCKY

LOCATION: On Hwy 31E at Jonesville, turn west onto Hwy 936 and proceed 1.6 miles to Friendship Road # 1011. Turn left and proceed approximately one-half mile to Friendship Church on the left. The Friendship Church Cemetery is directly across Hwy # 1011 up a gravel drive on top of the hill, and the Tennison Family Cemetery is a short distance beyond the church cemetery in a wooded area.

2 nd W/O Joseph William Tennyson (1823- ) (married in Taylor County, KY in 1858); D/O Iverson & Elizabeth (Bright) Bowen; S/O Mary Catherine Bowen who married George Dye. No stone - verified by Mildred Routt (now deceased).

(1) Others are reportedly buried in this cemetery, but there are no more stones to substantiate that claim.

(2) Timberlake Cemetery records indicate that Mary Elizabeth (Clopton) Tennison’s/Tennyson’s sister, Lydia Ann (Clopton) (1840-1906), married James W. Tennyson (note different spellings) (1840-1907), son of Joseph William and Mary Ann (Anderson) Tennyson. Both Lydia Ann and James W. are said to be buried at Timberlake Cemetery although no stones exist.

(3) Judge Cann's Cemetery book had this listed as Old Friendship Church Cemetery.
