Omer L. Sapp, 81, of Louisville, died June 16, 1982, at Southwest Jefferson Community Hospital after an illness. Born May 17, 1901, in Taylor County, he was the son of Yance and Stacy Yates Sapp. He was married to Mary Susan Watson Murphy, who survives. In addition to his wife, he is survived by four step-daughters, Shirley Kraft, New Albany, Ind.; Charlotte Meldrum, Severn, Md.; Louise Walking, Ottawa, Ill.; and Marge Ferrero, Peoria, Ill.; one step-son, Bill Murphy, Louisville; four brothers, Alonzo Sapp of Campbellsville, the Rev. Gilbert Sapp of Campbellsville, formerly of Russell Springs; Sam Sapp, Marseilles, Ill.; and Thurman Sapp of Los Angeles, Calif.; one sister, Annie (Alvey) Puryear of Campbellsville; one half-brother, William Sapp of Campbellsville; 6 step-grandchildren, 15 great-step-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Wagoner, daughter of Joe Wagoner of Campbellsville; his second wife, Helen Haidmam of Ottawa; one sister and one brother. Funeral services were Saturday, June 19, at O.D. White and Sons Funeral Home in Louisville with the Rev. Laverne Butler officiating.
Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery in Louisville. Pallbearers were Robert Ford, Willis Wright, Melvin Wright, Richard Puryear and Bill Murphy.
