Genealogy Contributor Awards

Many have given hundreds of hours and traveled many miles doing genealogy research relating to southern Kentucky. These awards are to recognize their work and unselfishness in sharing their gleanings with others.

Edith Presley Bastin

Edith has photographed thousands of cemetery stones in Hart, Metcalfe, Barren and nearby counties. Generously sharing these and transcriptions with several web-sites as well as sharing many death certificates and marriage bonds. Edith has compiled and printed in book form a full transcription of the Horse Cave Municipal Cemetery.

Martha P. Harrison

Martha is to be credited by many years of work in cataloging unrecorded cemeteries in Barren County. Since 1992, she has traversed thousands of miles, made hundreds of phone calls and tromped over many acres of farm and timberland to locate these old family cemeteries. She has read newspapers on microfilm, death certificates, funeral home records and talked to the older residents of the county to find these cemeteries. Martha has found over 170 cemeteries that have not been recorded and over 5,000 burials. Her dedication is to be commended as some one who is totally dedicated to preserving our past.

Sandi Gorin

Sandi is a professional genealogist but donates hundreds of hours each year to assist others. She maintains several RootsWeb boards and post thousands of obits, wills and other articles. Sandi serves as the editor Traces, the local Historical Society publication. She has 280 books in print.
