Charley Y. Burks, age 87 of Hardyville, passed away Sunday, August 10, 2014 at the University Hospital of Louisville surrounded by his loving family. He was a lifelong farmer, member of the Canmer Baptist Church and a U.S. Army Air Corps Veteran of World War II. Mr. Burks was preceded in death by his parents, William Henry Burks, Jr. and Annie Birdie Gumm Burks. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, June Waddell Burks of Hardyville, 2 daughters, Pamela Burks of Louisville and Gayle Giesecke and husband William of Hardyville, 2 grandchildren, William Benjamin Giesecke and wife Amber of Louisville and Elizabeth Harlow and husband Taylor of Glasgow, 1 great-granddaughter Arabella Jade Giesecke, 1 sister, Dixie Chaney and husband James Easton of Hardyville, 2 nephews and 2 nieces. Funeral service will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 13, 2014 in the chapel of Winn Funeral Home with burial in the Pearl Webb Cemetery. Visitation will begin 3:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Tuesday and after 9:00 a.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Winn Funeral Home.
