Former Hart County Sheriff, Jeffrey Alan Staples, age 52 of Munfordville, died Sunday, December 21, 2008 at the UK Hospital in Lexington.  The Ohio native was in law enforcement for 26 years serving with the Edmonton City Police, Horse Cave Police and the remaining 13years as the Hart County Sheriff where he was named Sheriff of the Year in 1998.  He was also a DARE teacher for several years and a member of the Rock Springs Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Jenny Chaney Staples; two daughters, Jamie Staples-Bussell and her husband Adam and April Goble and husband Joe all of Munfordville; one son, Jeremy Staples and wife Cricket of Cub Run; his father, Jeff D.Staples, Jr of Munfordville; six grandchildren, Madison Underwood, Aliyah Goble, Miranda Fields, Lynnley Bentley, Trevor Chase Goble and Allie Bussell; a sister, Sandra Renick of Sevierville, Tennessee; mother in law, Berniece Chaney of Legrande and a brother in law, Teddy Chaney and wife Pam of Legrande.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Geraldine Hudson Staples and his father in law, Thomas Chaney. 

Funeral services for Jeffrey Alan Staples will be held at 10am Wednesday, December 24, 2008 at the Brooks Funeral Home with interment at the Munfordville City Cemetery.   Visitation after 3pm Tuesday. 

Alternate expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the WLOC "Clothes for Kids."
