I share the following obituary because Mary Ann was born and raised in Hart County and there may be folks on the board who are interested in this story. When Mary Ann was quite young she eloped to our house in Louisville. She and my Dad were first cousins and quite close. She knocked on our door about midnight or a little later. She and her young fiancee had come to ask my Dad to go with them over to Jeffersonville, IN and stand up with them in their wedding. This put Dad in quite a quandary because as much as he loved Mary Ann, he also loved Aunt Kate and Earl just as much. They agreed to let Dad call Aunt Kate and Earl and after talking with them, they went to a wedding chapel in Jeffersonville and were married. (It was the next day by this time.) I always remember with great fondness the visits we had with Mary Ann and her brothers and her Mom and Dad. --Larry Brown
