Bell, John – Born 1802 Kentucky. There is a series of Bells that all seem to be related and are found in Kentucky in or around Simpson County and Warren Country. Sarah Bell is the first. She was born 1790 in South Carolina, married August 4, 1806 in Warren County, Kentucky to John Twitty Clack. They move to Macoupin County, Ill. The second is Rebecca Bell born 1791 in South Carolina. She marries Samuel Whitesides in 1809 in Warren County Kentucky. The third is Cassandra Bell born 1792 in Simpson County, Kentucky. She marries William Clack in 1809 in Logan County, Kentucky. William is the brother of John Twitty Clack. The fourth is Samuel Bell born 1797 in Logan CO, Kentucky. He marries Margaret Vaughan in 1823 in Kentucky. The fifth is John Bell (my ancestor) born 1802 in Kentucky. He marries Nancy Payne about 1825 in Kentucky. The sixth is James H. Bell born about 1804 in Kentucky. He marries Martha Short in 1827 in Warren County, Kentucky. In Simpson County records the father of Rebecca is identified as a James Bell. In the Warren Country marriage records, James H. Bell’s father is identified a James Bell. There is some evidence that the father of this group might be James Bell and the mother Sarah Clayton. If this James is correct as the father of this group, then the next brick wall would be James father. Since the two o ldest people on this list wer born in South Carolina, it can be surmised that James came from South Carolina. There is a James with a father Adam Bell in South Carolina. Help.

UPDATED

EDWARDS, William Asbury (1839-1909) was b. in Casey Co, KY and md. Nancy Josephine "Josie" Harrod in 1862 in Edmonson Co, KY.  Their 10 children were Martha Jane, Jessie Tomes, Bonny Anna, William M "Willie", Rosa Belle, Mary Tabitha "Tobe", David Newton, Charlie Luther, Sarah Sylviana, and Paulus Clinton Clero.  William Asbury Edwards' parents were Thomas Edwards b. abt 1806 who md 05 July 1829 Casey Co, KY to Rhoda E. Godbey as they appear on the 1830 & 1850 Census of Casey Co KY and have a son named William Edwards (age 16 on 1850 census of Casey Co KY).  Then, the Thomas Edwards family are on the 1860 Census of Edmonson Co KY--William Asbury Edwards md Nancy Josephine Harrod in 1862 in Edmonson Co KY--and the Thomas Edwards family was living next door to Andrew L. Edwards on the 1860 Census Edmonson Co.  Then the Thomas Edwards family are on the1870 Census in Casey County KY.  The 1880 Census of Neatsville, Adair Co, KY has Thomas & Rhoda Godbey Edwards living with their dau., Sarah J. & husband, Peter Tarter. William Asbury Edwards' Civil War file states he was b. in Casey Co KY and when he enlisted into the Civil War he had been living in Edmonson Co 5 years.  The William Asbury Edwards family lived in Edmonson & Hart Co the remainder of their life while the Thomas Edwards Family moved back to Casey Co and finally to Adair Co KY.  I'm wondering if Thomas Edwards & Rhoda Godbey Edwards are buried in Casey Co or Adair Co KY.  Anyone have connections to this family?

Thanks, Edith Bastin epb1937@scrtc.com
